Can I rebuild a hydraulic steering cylinder or does it need replacement?

Most cylinders are rebuildable if the chrome shaft is not badly pitted. If the shaft is pitted, replacement is cleaner because new seals will re-fail on a damaged shaft. We assess during the repair.

Why does my wheel feel spongy?

Air in the system. Either a leak that sucked air in or an improper bleed after previous service. We pressure-test the system to find the leak, fix it, and fully bleed fluid before returning the boat to you.
